How long before the great convergence? What else are "they" talking about? The New Depression. Ha. Everyone's been depressed since Bush stole the elections and we're now paying for those years of unchecked greed and stupidity.

Mosaic Waterfall Fountain

The irony is that it's a federal building in downtown Miami and is also an urban oasis.

Open Diary Dead Again

I've been writing over there at open diary dot com for (me love you) long time. But, as has happened in the past, it's down and I'm hankering to write something, so here I am at my beloved unlimited stop, my neglected and unloved blog.

And by down, I mean this is the message I was served by the internetwebz: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/includes/dbconnect.inc, line 3

wth?

I'm asking myself right now, "Why did I pay open diary dot com $100 for the privilege of posting my thoughts on the internetwebz forever? It's my digital legacy.

Ja. Ja.

Anyway, I was chatting with my pal Lincoln on Facebook last week and he wrote, "I hate OD." I was shocked. Yes, shocked. What happened? Kitchen Goddess, Canned Ham, Brian Hicks and others simply abandoned their blogs. (We never wanted to admit that our special diaries were just weblogs.) We were pioneers. And then we were gone. Is that our digital legacy?

What words will live on after you are gone?

Meanwhile, back in the year one when you belonged to no one - I drove downtown today specifically to see public art.

I wanted to see Maya Lin's earth sculpture with its odd mounds of (native) Bermuda grass, an image evoking the Florida coastline. The three foot mini-hills, although seemingly off-limits, can be used as a play area. I was hesitant to walk there because it doesn't seem very inviting although its intent is to provide casual seating. One can even see the mounds of earth as enhancing the perimeter security. Click on the photo to see the earth sculpture up close and personal.

Of course, I want to go back and photograph it again because it figures that the federal government would spend huge amounts of money to create such a thing. The courthouse itself takes up the entire downtown block where a television station used to live for many years before moving north to Broward County. Just up the street is the empty lot where the original Miami arena was built.

That's another story altogether.

There is ia method to the madness and it's irrational. I'm sorry and it's too late, baby. Life is a highway and I want to ride it 24/7/365 (except in leap years when it would be 24/7/366.

Have a nice day. I hope they don't drop a bomb on your street.

Unlimited limit

I'm still pedaling this bike. I fell off many times, but I always get back on and keep on pedaling. The days get shorter and the afternoons aren't quite so hot and humid. I feel a change. It's that time again.

Chunky or crunchy (relieve yourself of rheumatic discomfort)

Not laying on the floor in a drunken stupor eating a hamburger because my wife is abusive and refuses to take a drug test. But what if they're both unfit? He's got a terrible drinking problem and the judge was satisfied, so he got sole legal custody and she gets the kids occasionally and has to go to anger management and take alcohol tests. Were they asked who they wanted to live with? What does this mean for the kids? These kids have been this football between them for years. I know people who have lived around them. It's hard to break that cycle. A lot of people handle divorce bady. They have huge egos.
